The Community Science Project is a third-year core unit of the Bachelor of Science Degree at Deakin University. The purpose of this unit was to enable the students to engage with real projects and deliver tangible products to develop their professional communication and team work skills.

The emphasis of these projects was to switch from group work assessments to team work which involves utilising each other’s skills and all being responsible for the whole project equally with no set leader.

 

Team work and communication skills are highly sought-after skills by employers – this unit providing a great opportunity to hone and further develop these skills before finishing university.
